Half tester bedsteads became popular in the
nineteenth century. It was an alternative to
the more imposing four poster bed, yet still
retaining the status of a grand bed for the
master bedroom.

They are more adaptable, suiting the
dimensions of a normal proportioned room,
while losing none of the romantic effect.
